Doing Only 5 Things

Most days, whenever I get up from the computer or am going from room to room, I try to put away 10 things that are out of place. In reality putting away 20 at any given time would be much more needed, but I stick with 10 for the majority of the time. That is why doing only 5 things makes my list. Knowing that I might need a bit more tenderness towards myself on any day, and letting myself get away with only doing 5. That makes me happy.

Hey, that is what I do. Have you ever heard of Flylady? Well she does the 27 fling thing. It's amazing how fast you can clean up 27 things if you actually try. It makes a big differance too!

I read an essay by Ariel Gore about depression and she put described approaching an mountain of dishes. And then she realized that she had to deal with one dish at a time. That was huge for me. When I think that even if I only do 1, Ive done something!

Interesting.....I may just have to try that. With my two Things at home...I should be putting stuff away non-stop....perhaps that will keep me from shoving food in my mouth! lol

Maybe I should try that with unpacking once my mom leaves. I've been sooooo tired lately.

I wonder why...

I keep a long running list of things to do and try to mark off at least ten each day. I guess this is kind of the same concept. I tried FlyLady and didn't like it at all. Didn't really fit with me as a person. I love your approach though and agree that we all need to be easy on ourselves whenever we can.
