Can something bittersweet be happy too?

We have finally been working on having the kids sleep in their own beds. It needs to be done. It's been a longer run that I thought that it would be.

We took down their bunks and they now have beds side by side. Ivy's bed in all princessy and flowery. Bec has Cars bedding that is a contrast in textures. The comforter is horrendous. No matter how much fabric softener I use, how many times I wash it, it is scratchy and rough. But his flannel sheets are one of the most soft that I've ever felt. I try to not touch the comforter even when I make his bed.

Last week, Bec slept for 3 nights all night in his bed. Ivy slept twice. We all still get some snuggle time as each parent will lay with one child until sleep. The kids take turns asking which parent they want.

I miss them. I'm proud of them. And on a minor level, this makes me happy to see them become independent.

And now you and Chris have your bed all to yourself! Bow Chica Wow Wow! If that's not something to add to your happiness list, I bet it is one for his. ;)

We are experiencing the same exact phase at the exact same time - how coincidental. We finally have the boys when bedtime starts, but they try to come into our bed in the middle of the night. It wouldn't bother me so much (in fact I rather like it), but soon there will be a new babe in there to nurse, which creates a problem. The 2 nights before last they have been in their own beds all night! Anyway, I totally understand the bittersweet part, as well as the proud feeling for them and yourself for overcoming such a huge obstacle.
